Got adhesive grime stuck on plastic back cover of my camera. Mild soap wipe didnt work. How do I remove?

The camera is a Nikon F80 SLR with a back cover that allows date printing. The cover is made of plastic probably some kind of thermoplastic. I have no idea how the sticky substance got onto the camera or what it is exactly (got there after my sis used the camera). It looks and feels like the sticky grime that some stickers leave on certain surfaces after you peel off the sticker. I've tried wiping it with mild soap solution but that wasn't very helpful. They only way I know of removing the substance is by slowly and painstakingly scraping it to the side and then pinching it off but it takes forever and no matter how hard I try there's always going to be some grime left over. Please help. Many thanks!Got adhesive grime stuck on plastic back cover of my camera. Mild soap wipe didnt work. How do I remove?
Nail varnish remover will get off any sticky grime without scrubbing.Got adhesive grime stuck on plastic back cover of my camera. Mild soap wipe didnt work. How do I remove?
I am not a camera expert (dont even know what your talking about, sorry!) but most adhesive on plastic can be removed easily by freezing. I dont know if this is possible, ie: can you remove the back? but might be helpful.

Good Luck
You can buy ';plaster remover'; liquid from a chemist - its designed to remove the adhesive off plasters that remains on your skin.

HOWEVER - I am not sure that this would be safe to use on the surface of your camera..... be careful.
Try a soft cloth and acetone (or nail varnish remover if you have any). A few firm wipes and...hey presto!
Try dabbing alcohol. Not too much. it releases the adhesive
take the cover off an clean it with white spirit - anything else will damage it as will scraping!!!
Dont be daubing chemical crap all over the back of your camera - its a recipe for disaster, get some 1 inch wide sellotape and stick it to the gunk, you'll be surprised how easily it'll remove it.
Goo-Gone from the hardware store. Removes gooey glue/ahesive residues.

Also, sometimes just the heat created from the friction of rubbing it with a thumb or forefinger can do the trick. Just be sure to push it all the same direction and pick the rolls off as they appear at the edge of the surface.
Eucalyptus oil
WD40 - it works!!
EVO-STICK make a product called Adhesive remover sold in 250 ml cans about 拢3.50p

Or you could try Sticky Label Remover from TABLEAU

They are RPM Marketing (sussex) PO Box 1 Bexhill 0n Sea

East Sussex TN39 3ZQ. About 拢1.99 for 200ml sparay.

Or you could try WD40 from Poundland 拢1 of course.

Try them all on a cotton bud on to an unobtrusive part of the case first though.
