Squire Fat Strat pickguard plastic adhesive removal help?

My son just got a Squire Fat Strat HSS, Montego Black Metallic. A bunch of plastic started peeling off the pickguard, so we just peeled it all the way off. Now there are dull sticky patches of what appears to be remaining adhesive on some of the pickguard surface. What is a safe, careful way of getting this leftover adhesive off?Squire Fat Strat pickguard plastic adhesive removal help?
Hello, AJ! The plastic on the pickguard was just a protective layer, intended to be removed by the end user. I am surprised that it left any residue, but it can be easily removed with ordinary lighter fluid (naptha). Just apply a small amount to a paper towel or cloth, and rub gently. For troublesome areas, apply a small puddle directly on the spot, keeping it contained for a minute before wiping. It will not harm the guitar body finish if it happens to touch it (just don't leave it there to dry). Products like Goo-Gone or even denatured alcohol can work well, but sometimes require multiple applications and are not always effective. Do not use nail polish remover (acetone), which will attack the surface finish and leave a dull spot. Best regards, DanaSquire Fat Strat pickguard plastic adhesive removal help?
Goo-Gone. is incredible amazing stuff. I don't think it will harm anything. To ensure you don't mess up any electronics in the process, you may be well advised to remove the pick gaurd. The folks at your local music shop may be able to provide some good tips.
Try nail polish remover. Just dab a little on a cotton swab and wipe away.
