What's the best adhesive to use to join two pieces of flat plastic?

I have no idea what kind of plastic. I'm repairing a cracked drawer bracket.

Rubber cement? Plumbing adhesive? Ideas? What's the best adhesive to use to join two pieces of flat plastic?
There is a speacial glue. I think it's called acitone, or acitate. We used it in shop class when I was in school. You can find out for sure if you can contact ';TAP PLASTICS';. Thats the companies name. What's the best adhesive to use to join two pieces of flat plastic?
There is new stuff coming out all the time. When you go to the hardware store to buy some, look at the labels. There is glue for metal, plastics, pvc, fiberglass, and others. Look for the glue that says it will adhere to plastic. Remember not all glues are alike. Now if I see this correctly. To just glue the bracket together may not be enough. You may need to somehow glue a flat piece of something on top of the broke bracket, so the flat piece spans both sides of the bracket.
Gluing will probably not work for very long. Your best bet is to visit you local hardware store and they should have a replacement part for you for not much money. l have found that if one place doesn't have an exact replacement, try the next store. Since the plastic bracket is probably part of a set of hardware for the drawer, unless it is a very close replacement part, it will not work well with the other parts.
